“All humans are dead except those who have knowledge ... And all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds ... And those who do good are deceived, except those who are sincere ... And those who are sincere are always in a state of worry”

All are stricken and you are safe?
All got it wrong and you got it right?
All are blameworthy, and you have excuses?

A Country's Constitution

Quotes from The Qu'ran

  •  And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor.
  •  And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say : "My Lord ! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small."
  • Your Lord knows best what is in your inner-selves. If you are righteous, then, verily, he is Ever Most Forgiving to those who turn unto Him again and again in obedience, and in repentance.
  • And follow not ( i.e., say not, or do not witness not, etc.) that of which you have no knowledge ( e.g. to say, "I have heard ..", or, "I have seen ..", while in fact he has not heard or seen). Verily ! hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each one of you will be questioned ( by Allah.)
  •  And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance. Verily, you can neither rend nor penetrate the earth, nor can you attain the stature like the mountains in height.
  •   All the bad aspect of these ( the above mentioned things) are hateful to your Lord.
  • This is (part) of the al-hikmah ( wisdom, good manners, and high character, etc.) which your Lord inspired to you. And set not up with Allah any other god lest you should be thrown into Hell, blameworthy and rejected ( from His Mercy.)
  •       (Translation from the Quran 17:33-39)
[T]he sun and moon and stars are subservient to His command. Both creation and command belong to Him. Blessed be Allah,
the Lord of all the worlds.
(Qur’an, 7:54)

Thank you Squeegie for your mom's practical wisdom....made me smile:)

Thank you truth for quoting these beautiful verses from the Quran...

Indeed our parents and especially moms are our greatest treasure and living proof of His mercy...May Allah swt bless them immensely and let us be a source of ease and good for them....we can never repay them....I had always wanted to write a book on my mother...All through my childhood , I dreamt of acquiring enough literary skills that could if not reach but at least touch the serene depths of mercy and compassion that is my mother...words always failed me....still after all this time I cannot do justice-my words either seem bereft of  emotion or lack the ardour that befits my condition ... the love i feel for her pervades my being and reverberates in my soul....my land is ploughed with her soul, her energy of being and I keep losing count of thread of words so that what materializes are mere shards of adulterated remembrances....a gradual shuffling.....wisps of words and sometimes paper cuts....I am not worthy of her and yet she made me worthy with her love....and He(our Lord) loves us seventy times more than her.....i cannot even fathom or grasp the intensity of His love...and though I feel small....really small in terms of my existence....this love around me makes me content and happy....it is strange yet true...anyways...we never realize how lucky we are at times...unconditional love....it is right there in front of us....waiting to be recognized...sorry for this rant but i really wish that all of us would realize the worth of our parents and treat them with love ,respect and mercy....do thank God  everyday for this gift!All praise is for Allah and All thanks to Him

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Thank you brother Dolcy...You are right ...media conditioning is the new modus operandi to shape our thought processes but then again ...

“All of us who professionally use the mass media are the shapers of society. We can vulgerize that society. We can brutalize it. Or we can help lift it onto a higher level.”

"It is the (nature of the) soul; if you do not preoccupy it with truth, it will occupy you with falsehood. It is the (nature of the) heart; if you do not accommodate it with love of Allaah, it will dwell with love of creation and this is a certain reality. It is the (nature of the) tongue, if you do not preoccupy it with remembrance, it will most definitely occupy you with frivolity.

Thus, choose for your own self one of the two courses and confer upon it one of the two standings."
