If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.  And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely, is not puffed up,  Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil: Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth: Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void or tongues shall cease or knowledge shall be destroyed.  For we know in part: and we prophesy in part.  But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away.  When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child.  We see now through a glass in a dark manner: but then face to face. Now I know in part: but then I shall know even as I am known.  And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity."   The Apostle Paul      1 Corinthians 13: 1-13

Thank you Brother Dolcy...

Under the elm for a long time
I've been waiting for you, O my soul.
Weeks follow each other like books
Perused, my thoughts elsewhere,
Full of music that's distracted too
Full of a deep buzzing where words images
Perceptions dwell in the jumble of memory
Of which our mind is composed.
And nothing comes to assert your coming
No other sign than smoke.
Is it you that we should have welcomed
When tenderness filled our hearts?
You that we should have discovered
On the shores of pity or of love?
I have not been taught to notice your presence
Even when reveille raises the limbs
Of a future happiness; even when
Tired of a long day I seek
Silence in the immense dark where I jettison
What differentiates the sun from death.
Hours accumulated, absurd riches,
I am ready to give up the trees and the cities
But I still hope to receive you, my soul,
Laden with my own eternity.
You who are me, who resembles nobody,
You that I must give back some day to who knows who.

Final Notions

It will not be simple, it will not take long
It will take little time, it will take all your thought
It will take all your heart, it will take all your breath
It will be short, it will not be simple
It will touch through your ribs, it will take all your heart
It will not take long, it will occupy all your thought
As a city is occupied, as a bed is occupied
It will take your flesh, it will not be simple
You are coming into us who cannot withstand you
You are coming into us who never wanted to withstand you
You are taking parts of us into places never planned
You are going far away with pieces of our lives
It will be short, it will take all your breath
It will not be simple, it will become your will.

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Interesting Dolcy.

But until you have read the book you can't be sure you should have picked it.

Thank you Brother Dolcy and Brother Bill

I agree with you Brother Dolcy....in a world full of books, movies and people each of us has a preference to select one or the other...the choices are in profusion and our time is finite and so we unconsciously make decisions to try or eliminate elements which go with or against our preference...picking up wrong books, wrong movies and even wrong people sometimes is still a decision of our whims....the real question is what is right or wrong then...what is the litmus test...how do we define this morality...which scale...whose standard???
Then only we can pick carefully ....the knowledge precedes the action...

A man was wandering the marketplace at noon with a candle in his hand, totally ecstatic.
"Hey," called a shopkeeper. "Is this a joke? Who are you looking for?" "Someone breathing Huuuuuu, the divine breath." "Well, there are plenty to choose from." "But I want one who can be in anger and desire and still a true human being in the same moment." "A rare thing! But maybe you're searching among the branches for what appears only in the roots."

There's a river that turns these millstones. Human will is an illusion. Those that are proud of deciding things and carrying out decisions are the rawest of the raw! Watch the thought-kettles boiling and then look down at the fire.
God said to Job, "You value your patience well. Consider now that I gave you that patience."

Don't be absorbed with the waterwheel's motion. Turn your head and gaze at the river. You say,"But I'm looking there already." There are several signs in eyes that see all the way to the ocean. Bewilderment is one. Those who study foam and flotsam near the edge have purposes, and they'll explain them at length!

Those who look out to sea become the sea, and they can't speak about that. On the beach there's desire-singing and rage-ranting, the elaborate language-dance of personality, but in the waves and underneath there's no volition, no hypocrisy, just love forming and unfolding.

Action leads to knowledge. Trying something different is not necessarily a sin.

There is an old saying in the west that goes like this: "You can tell a book by its cover". That is often true. When it is not possible to tell by its cover, you usually don't have to read far before you know where the author is headed.

The same is true of a man, you usually don't have to talk to him long before his mouth will tell what kind of a man you are dealing with.

Thank You Brother Dolcy and Brother Bill...interesting outlooks...
Well we gain experience at the expense of time...trying something different is not necessarily a sin but losing energy and time in the process is sometimes detrimental and  risky...who knows how long one would live...after all,all this is just a stop over!
