Hello Everyone!

I am new to the forum and am considering conversion to Islam. I was raised baptist and now don't really conform to any religion. I have been reading the Quran and studying Islam for a while and it makes sense to me. My concern is that I live in Alabama and I have no clue as to how to pray (salat) and I don't speak Arabic although I want to learn. Is it better to wait until I can perform salat? Also are there any resouces to help me?

Another question is, is it ok to visit a masjid without being invited, to talk to people about Islam? Thank you for your help!

Hello Tony and welcome to the forum

In order to make sure the Imam of the masjid is there when you visit, it may be best to phone before going, though it's not a must. Having said that, on Fridays after Salat is a good time to find him, though he may be busy

If you phone Why Islam, they could give you some suggestions concerning a nearby mosque in Alabama:

Learning how to pray is not complicated as far as the basics are concerned. There these links on youtube which you may wish to check:

Hope all goes well and that you like it here.
