Pittsburgh Jews Raise $1 Million for Christchurch Victims

A Jewish organization in the American city of Pittsburgh has raised almost $1 million for the victims of the Christchurch mosque shootings, Radio New Zealand reported.

Southampton Faiths Plan Annual Peace Walk

A peace walk through south England city, Southampton, is planned next Sunday, July 7, to highlight the importance of understanding between different faith groups, Daily Echo reported.

“Lots of people have never been in a mosque or a temple or synagogue so it’s just about showing people what they are like and what people do in them,” Buddhist and organizer David Vane said.

The Southampton Council of Faiths Annual Peace Walk will take place on July 7 from 12.15pm.

With a message of breaking down barriers and embracing multiculturalism, the walk will start at the Queens Fountain in East Park on Above Bar Street and journey through the city.

The walk will visit Medina Mosque, Nanaksar Gurdwara, Southampton Synagogue, Friends Meeting House and Central Baptist Church.

It will take in a stop at the Abu Bakr mosque for lunch, before heading off to the Vedic Sikh Temple and then to the Gurduwara Temple before ending at St Mary’s Church.

Organized by Southampton’s Council of Faiths it is one of a number of events aimed at bringing people of different faiths together...

Faiths Unite to Support New Vermont Mosque

An Islamic center’s effort to expand has received support from their neighboring synagogue, helping them raise the required funds, MyNBC5 reported.

“The mosques and the synagogues are under the same attacks. So, we’re happy to be right next to each other,” the Islamic Center of Vermont imam Islam Hassan said.

“We’ve got each other’s back and we’re happy to have this kind of relationship.”

As a result of the growing number of the Muslim community, the Islamic Center of Vermont has been trying to expand in a new building.

The change came when they found a neighboring empty church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, went up for sale.

The congregation closed the deal on $1.1 million. Offering their current mosque for sale, they still need extra 500,000 which they are crowdfunding now.

The Jewish congregation next door to the new site is eager to help...

Sending a strong message of support, dozens of people stood guard at the local mosque in Owen Sound, Ontario, after the worshipping house was vandalized for the second time, London CTV News reported.

Nashville Mosque Opens Doors to Combat Hate

A local mosque in Antioch, Nashville, Tennessee, is holding an open house this weekend for people of all faiths to help combat Muslim stereotypes and show people the true Muslims, WSMV.com reported.

“They hate what they are told to hate. If we only get a handful of people, we’ve changed at least the mindset and mentality, and show what our faith is all about, who we are,” said Anwar Arafat, the head Imam and Religious Director of the Islamic Center of Tennessee.

Though the open house is held for the fourth consecutive year, Arafat believes it has a more urgent tone this year...
